Skip the Supermarket: Farm Stands & Home Bakers Are Open in Lenawee

ADRIAN — The best grocery aisle in Lenawee County is a two-lane road in September. From Addison to Tipton, farm stands and home bakers are selling what they grew and made this week — eggs and honey at the end of a gravel drive, sourdough on a porch in Hudson, candles and bouquets just off Monagan Highway.

Skip the supermarket run. Here is who is open right now, what they have, and where to point the car.

Farm stands: produce, eggs, and honey

Wyld Roost Homestead Farm Stand sits at 17725 Manitou Rd. in Addison — an honor-system stand stocked with eggs, honey, tallow, vanilla extract, tomatoes, peppers, celery, and herbs. The cucumbers have been rolling in, and owner Kelcee McMillin works from home, so if something is out on the stand, she can pick fresh on request. Cash, Venmo, Cashapp — and barter welcome.

Mumbles & Grumbles: A Really Natural Farm keeps a little stand at 2677 Sutton Rd. in Adrian with yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, and Yukon potatoes. Always open, cash or Venmo.

Johnson's Farm Stand on Teachout Road in Manitou Beach has the family's vegetables out front all season. This year's produce has its own Facebook page — check it for the daily board.

The bakers: sourdough, breads, and sweets

Drew Ann's Dough Den in Hudson is a three-year veteran of the Adrian City Market (Saturdays 9–1) — everything made with "love and sourdough," from bagels to boules. Porch pickups can be scheduled around market days.

The Dough Whisperer on Comstock Street in Adrian bakes artisan breads, cookies, muffins, and pies out of a home kitchen — what started as a passion for one mama of one has grown into a weekly neighborhood favorite.

Whisking Up Sweets & More LLC on M-50 in Onsted covers the baked-goods side of the county, and Courtney's Creations runs a goodie cart on Shiawassee River Drive in Adrian, Wednesday through Saturday 9 a.m.–8 p.m. (or until sold out).

Not just food: candles, soaps, and more

Ember & Bloom Market, near the end of Tripp Road in Tipton, is a roadside market with handmade candles, soap, bouquets, and fresh eggs. Cash and Venmo; check their Facebook page for the day's hours.

Paragon Acre Farm on Paragon Road in Tipton opens Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to dark — sourdough loaves, cinnamon rolls, cookies, banana breads, and blueberry lemon loaves, plus an all-natural line of magnesium spray, beard balm, hair oil, dish soap bars, and more.

Your guide to the season

Every stand runs on its own clock — hours change with harvest, sold-out signs go up early, and new stands join the board every week. Check the Stands & Sales board before you head out, and use the filters to find baked goods, vegetables, honey, or plants in your town.
